The internet is now old enough that the same thing that happened to NASA will happen to the internet. Enough of the architects and original designers are old enough, and not enough people learned how it works that it'll eventually die off anyway.
It was fun while it lasted.
Remember the day they paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
