Back in the day there were only a few channels so news had to cater to the average, centrist person.

Still lied, Watergate for instance, but ironically people back then were actually better informed than almost anyone today. Only people today that actively try to find the whole truth are better informed.

So boomers kind of got the rug pulled out from under them.
