It has merit. The fags kept the straights out of the industry. Not through overt discrimination, but by making it so disgustingly gay the straights avoided it entirely. Then came the "sleep your way to the top" to advance or to even get an entry position. It's the same in many entertainment industries, but the gays in power wanted gay sex or else you weren't even considered.
