Not exactly surprised. A phone is a massive security hole, and that is NOT new. Don't carry it or accept it. I remember reading way back those January 6 visiting DC idiots talking about taking batteries to charge their phones. For fuck sake, leave the phone at home or somewhere far enough away they can't even spectulate it was ever there.

Police need to be stopped from this shit, they think it's all adding safety. What would add safety is extensive use of the gallows. There's a backlog. We'd need shift executioners right now just to keep up.

Police wont stop. There is a database access list for the Flock cams on the web and it shows everything from local police to the feds accessing it. Its a way to get around warrants.

And given what I'm seeing from the local Repubs, they dont seem to mind. Its a way to keep an eye on the "pedos" that seem to be on the BS local news every day.

That's exactly the problem. Until they step away from all this monitoring and spying bullshit and start loading up the gallows, this never ends. You want to make sure a pedo doesn't re-offend. Let them swing. I don't think pedos are even the real target though, it's just the one you can still talk about.

It's the same shit with banning loli or age verification for porn sites. They need a pretext like the Gulf of Tonkin or 9/11 to do what they really wanted to do all along. It's an easy target that is very hard to defend on moral grounds, and will be used to censor the opposition. We saw that happen in real time in the UK with that online safety act. It took them all of 12 hours to begin weaponizing it against critics of the state.

It's far more cynical than that. There are federal grants which give them money to install this stuff.

Of course.. a little gets taken off the top.. and the Flock guys love taking cops out to steak dinners.

"So if my phone is stolen, you can use this tech to get it back from the criminals?"

"Of course not, we'll just charge YOU for the criminal's actions, and leave it on you to prove you didn't. Gotta protect the criminals and prosecute the innocent, after all. We can't press the Solve Everything button, we need criminals for their criminality."
