When this happened in England,

it was broad daylight
bystanders remarked "oh no" but did absolutely nothing
the victim was beheaded
to make it more insulting, the victim was a soldier

So the "fighting Irish" stereotype has truth to it.

Bystanders stepped in (eventually) & stopped him (slowed him down). The police did nothing.
He attempted to behead him, the victim's still alive. Afaik.
