IMHO Most tribes had a balance of hunting & farming depending on their territory. That's "survival of the fittest" eh? "Fit" means most suitable for the environment (they "fit in") not "biggest & strongest". Being "fit" also means adaptable to changes.
How would a tribe be the best at adapting? By using multiple methods of food gathering. Harvesting natural plants was always part of hunter-gathering, eh? Farming & animal husbandry added greatly to that, but hunting was still important in cold climates. Feeding animals all winter long is a challenge.
While most H-G were also nomadic? Later on they would have "outposts" in the north & south which could be populated (or not) all year long. THAT is the best method of long-term survival until technology improved & farming with permanent settlements became dominant.
That women were involved is a "DUH!" moment. Everyone contributed men, women, children? Everyone played their role in survival. Those that didn't aren't around in the DNA pool any longer.
TL;DR? Feminist dumbasses stating the obvious through their fantasy projections. Again.

The article is basically what you are saying but the title implies females were the shapers alone.
