They had a consignment agreement signed by the original owners of a specific franchise. Then corporate had decided to sell the store to someone else, kicking the old owners out without being able to take the collection. The new owners said to the old that they will take on the responsibilities of the consignment agreement. When the guy that actually owned the Lego's tried to get them back, he was told they belonged to the store, that they don't actually have to follow the contract since they didn't sign it.
Sounds like the guy who owned the Legos should get the money from the corporate, and then corporate try to get the money from the new franchisee since the Lego guy wasn't a party to the agreement between corporate and new store owner
Has this guy never seen a crime thriller.. ever?
Never go into a hefty deal with that amount of money on the line without a legally binding contract.
Now, if he did have a contract (I haven't watched the two part series) and they still screwed him over, then that's pretty messed up.
He has a legally binding contract. They have video evidence of all of ot.

Ah okay. Thank you for explaining that. At least he took the right steps in the beginning.
