Supposedly the game was in development for 8 years. So they started development on a game 4 years late and went WAY over time (and probably budget) on a kind of game they were totally unprepared to make.
"Hey guys, I have an idea. After that we'll make an extraction shooter!"
Their extraction shooter isn't for a while. Their next will be their battle royale game.
