Touch pads. Fully customisable in what they can do. They can emulate mouse movement, joystick, buttons, a hybrid of all 3 or anything else.

Eh, I still have an original Steam controller and only used it for about a day because the touchpad thing was just not doing it for me at all.
Those look like they would be really easy to accidentally bump while using the analog sticks.
They are a bit lower so they keep out of the way, but I ordered one and will come report to you when I have it

i imagine they're some kind of touch analog stick
