I was completely colorblind in the 90s and 00s. A good little liberal who swallowed all of the pretty leftist lies about a post-racial America. I enthusiastically signed on to the identity politics ceasefire. Only after years of abuse did I realise it was all a ploy. That every other racial and ethnic demographic maintained and even accelerated their own tribalism while demonizing the same behavior in whites. My white identity politics are purely defensive. A reaction to attack.
So no, I didn't choose this. I am choosing survival and the in-group biases required to achieve it.
