It’s from endless brainwashing. We became so comfortable that we forgot why it’s a good idea to show what happens when you break the rules in a horrific way. In movies it’s usually the lovable rogue thats gets saved at the last second from an evil government. It’s not a child murderer that is captured dramatically and shown being hanged as part of the ending.
I imagine a lot of people here were further left before shit got real bad, I was a libertarian for God’s sake!

In 2012 I was a feminist in high school. Not in the pussy hat march sense, but in the vague "feminism is about equality" sense, because it was popular and I didn't really look any deeper into it.
In 2014, the beginning of the current insanity, I got my first exposure to 3rd wave feminism via a former classmate who took a gender studies class and decided that she needed to post misandrist stuff on Facebook. I naively made the mistake of calling her out on that, which led to a long string of women dogpiling on me for making a statement that wouldn't have raised an eyebrow a decade earlier.
By 2018 I was a lolbertarian, no longer a feminist. I had been exposed to Reddit and its ilk, and recognized the danger that was storming its way through society.
By 2022, I was somewhere between civic nationalist and conservative. Illegal immigration was a big problem to me, but I was still convinced that legal immigrants were fine.
Today I am a race realist, I have seen too much evidence that nonwhites will attempt a takeover if they get the numbers to do so. It is painful to be where I am at today because many of my friends, even close ones, are not white. Unfortunately, we now live in an open air prison, and like in all prisons, you have to stick with your own kind to survive.
the more days that slip by, the more I understand the rationale behind public execution of criminals convicted of henuous crimes.
