I guarantee it happens in every industry. Everyone who has job hunted in the past decade+ has a story of being over qualified but constantly rejected
The problem is the law, not the corporation. If your competition is paying 30% of what you're paying for labor, eventually they will outcompete you and you will go out of business. It's a race to the bottom the second someone starts doing it.
Which is why they started pushing AI.
