I'm not that familiar with the Linux ecosystem but isn't Ubuntu normie friendly enough that they decided putting in telemetry was worth it? Being the biggest normie friendly distro is also going to make it a juicy target for age verification nonsense.
I had to fight with Mint last night to get it installed on Hyper-V because it's still retarded about graphics drivers. Zorin on the other hand went through without any issues at all. Mint's layout feels a lot more familiar and intuitive to me, but if I had to hand something to Joe Normie it would probably be Zorin based on my limited experience thus far.
