It's a shit test.
"Don't do this exact thing" -> (does LITERALLY that exact thing, but at a small scale so they can reconcile if they get in a fight over it and make out the other party as the bad guy for getting mad).
Well, they did a 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 different thing actually. Don' t worry about those goal post moving in the future though. I'm quite sure this will be just fine.
