A variety of wokies have been admitting defeat lately, and quite a few people have been saying that they're not sincere, but regrouping. That's probably true, but it's still good for us.
Much of the woke push relied on inevitability. Woke was "the right side of history," woke was "the modern audience," woke was going to "drag us kicking and screaming into the future." But now, that model has been shattered by their own admission. The moDeRn AuDiEnCE is just a few loud assholes online. Everybody sees that now. Even Hollywood is admitting it(first link) in certain circles. So if this isn't inevitable after all, if woke makes your projects flop and your company spiral, if it doesn't give you social clout and make you cool anymore... what's the point? I think we will see not only institutions backing off, but noticeable attrition amongst what we would have thought are the "true believers," the grunts infesting the institutions. Why attach yourself to a framework that has admittedly failed? Why make yourself a pariah at work and in social life when "the right side of history"... wasn't? It's not like they have sincerely held principles; that much is abundantly clear. Sure, many are genuinely true believers, and the battle isn't over, but I think we will see a surprisingly high amount of people quietly backing into the bushes in the days to come, and that's only a good thing for us.
It's not good for us if they admit "defeat" but then keep pushing the same thing just being less obvious about it. It means everyone is still being fed propaganda, but now it's worse because if you try to point it out people will retort "It's definitely not woke compared to [X], you're just being an anti-woke conspiracy theorists!"
There are already some good examples of this right now. The Fallout show, The Boys, Landman (or anything from Taylor Sheridan is a good litmus test of this), as well as stuff like the movie Prey; if you ask the average person who consumes such content, they will definitely tell you they aren't woke. The Moral Minority, lesbian girlboss, or downtrodden Straight White Male is just part of "good storytelling", et cetera, et cetera.
Hollywood knows the game -- that Variety article is the kind of pivot they will use to convince normies that "woke is dead".
They will point to any vehicle starring a straight White male and say, "See, DEI is retired -- otherwise it wouldn't star Alan Richson!"
They already have the institutions captured -- and they've burned through BILLIONS over the last decade and a half across every major media vector. Why would they suddenly care now?
The real reason is that they have already mostly captured the audience. They can confess some form of a public concession because books, movies, streaming, and games at the highest level already promote what they are trying to propagate.
If you check the most talked about streaming shows, they're mostly minority or faggot-filled; news cycles can't stop talking about the dyke-run WNBA; all of the awards shows are DEI central; and other than content coming out of Angel Studios, are there any movies that have come out or are coming out that are actually sincere morale boosters aimed at the White audience (and if you don't know what I mean, watch the latest trailers from Angel Studios, and I would love to know if there are equivalent stories being told from Hollywood with an all-White cast like in those films)?
I think the "woke is dead" rhetoric is a red herring.
Until we actually see a culture shift, I'm going to be looking at what the zeitgeist produces, not what some wokies and the easily gullible have to say about it.
When people start outwardly rejecting and walking away from degenerate trash like Bridgerton, Heated Rivalry or Euphoria, then we can talk.
You'll know woke is dead when the people who control Hollywood are gone...
