Overpopulation aside, charity has its limits. If you give someone a fishing rod and teach them how to fish, then they break the rod in half to use as kindling (as many third-worlders would); you might give them one more rod if you're extremely compassionate. If they break that one too, then realize the futility of it and don't give them another.

But bleeding hearts will tell you that's mean. Grifters who take some of the fish for nothing will tell you that's selfish. Maniacs who want you genocided out of existence will work ceaselessly to get you to give up all your fishing rods so you're the one who starves to death.
