Meritocracy, just like democracy, only works in a homogenous society. Once you introduce competing ethnicities and "cultures" into the society, meritocracy becomes a cudgel to beat your society to death with.

No, it's not. Iran is that way because it's Iran. Because it's Persia. Islam plays no part in it just as Christianity played no part in why certain parts of Europe were more successful than others and why Europe was successful as whole. It's racial.

Yeah I agree, but, I was talking about Iran specifically and yeah Persia has been around forever, which I find beyond hypocritical, evil and just fucking weird, that its real wants to have their ancestral land. Also, Persian civilization is over 2,500 years old, beginning with the rise of the Achaemenid Empire under Cyrus the Great around 550 BC. But, the Iranian plateau has held continuous major civilizations and human settlements dating back roughly 7,000 years ago.

No. Look at their science literature output. I remember years ago being surprised that Iranian researchers kept on popping up, and it wasn't just some small niche Iran happened to have an affinity for, I looked into it and they're miles ahead of everyone around them but for isreal, and it's not even close. We're talking isreal putting out 110 in a field, iran was putting out 70, and next was saudi on 7 or something and it was shit.

The worst part about Iran is the air quality, they could really use some smog regulations, it's fucking nasty.
Central Asian countries have this problem due to the lack of crosswinds.
Most of the pollution is from the gas and oil power plants, the rest is from the poor quality fuel they use for their cars and trucks, lots of contaminants that cause noxious particles and fumes.
