I always thought of it as "don't let 2 psychotic lesbians raise crazy superpowered children". But that's just my take on how repeatedly awful Mystique and Destiny have been since they've created world ending timelines more than once now and one of them literally because Destiny wanted more snuggle time.
Part of it, for sure. But the overall design of most of the women were always from the base of an attractive body and face and form fitting outfits. Same idea with the men where even Professor X, stuck in a chair, was ripped as fuck.
Unrealistic standards? I guess. But it used to go both ways and only insecure women were "threatened" by the hot fit women guys watched in their free time. Guys would see ripped superheros and think "I should strive towards that image and hit the gym" not "this should be banned because I feel uncomfortable"
The core design idea of Rogue was originally the idiom "you can look, but you can't touch". Change my mind.
