My working theory is that we want a moon base, possibly as part of Elon's mad race for Mars, and before we do that we have to remember how to run a space program. And that same time period Karl Marx wrote communist manifesto, Darwin comes out with theory of evolution. Lots of lies all came out in a short period of time in the 1800s.

Going even more fringe I personally think the Oceangate guy was assassinated because he was about to open up the same can of worms with cheap sea exploration. If people just started gluing carbon fiber together and going to look for Atlantis they'd be fucked.. it's why they shit on him so hard in the media for no real reason.
Anyways.. as a kid.. I fucking loved NASA and all that shit. As I've gotten older I see it for the con it is now. There's some scientific value in having small space stations and doing orbital Earth science, but, beyond that, we're not meant to live anywhere else, and those who go will face disaster and those who survive will likely experience slavery.
Here's all you need to consider. In micro gravity everything floats as if weightless. Including turds. Do you want to get on a space bus with 100 other random civilians with just 6 toilets? Pink eye all the way to Mars.
