I’m Spanish. The girl went to a centre shared with ‘menas’ – which is the term used here in Spain to refer to underage illegal immigrants – and was raped by five illegal immigrants.
And it’s obvious that they were illegal immigrants, because if they’d been Spanish, the news would have been all over the place, condemning the dangers of the far right, fascism and young fascists; instead, we only found out years later – that’s just how this country works.

How would more luck make me smarter?
Why shouldn't I use reality to better understand the world? Sure, papers exist that say one thing, but other papers say another thing, and reality says a whole mess of third fourth and fifth things. Why would I use only some limited information to make character guesses on huge swarths of people instead of taking individual experiences as I encounter them and use actual character assessment to make more well-informed decisions?
