I know right. Only the government should have access to the unrestricted propaganda machines. Civilians are not capable of using it responsibly.

I would argue this is precisely why it was shut down. The government does not want you to have access to WW3 weapons of war.
Right on. When this tech was first launched I remember people worried about it being abused for evil. But restricting it to only a select few is a stupid way to prevent that. In fact it's going to achieve the exact opposite: oh nice now you gave the power of deepfakes only to the government. I'm sure they would never abuse it 🙄
That's true. News Media has been using it too, I remember once or twice they forgot to remove water marks lol.
I'm more along the lines of we probably shouldn't have ventured this far into giving humanity the ability to spontaneously create fake realistic content... We're not yet ready for it.

Once all the evils are let out of Pandora's Box, there's no point in trying to hammer it closed again, its actually counter-productive. The only thing left inside it at that point is hope.
Would make sense, establishments and the left are REALLY shit at using AI for propaganda.
Iran has been really bad at from claiming they shot down an F35 to capturing Delta team. Meanwhile whoever is running the Whitehouse and DHS twitter accounts is doing better with old school editing meme clips.
