They used him because he is n actual Tolkein nerd who beat the movie consultants in a trivia challenge.
But yeah they are just using him as propaganda to gve the production feigned credibility.
That just means there'll be some surface level justifications for the postmodernist filth crammed in there.
Nothing I have ever seen or heard about him suggests that he has even a scrap of integrity.
