What you say would explain why Trump is melting down, although it's impossible to confirm. It also doesn't track previous US practices as far as I know. Maybe they did hide contractor deaths, or at least didn't announce them?
Edit: the number of wounded is also stratospheric compared to the number of confirmed dead. Isn't the ratio normally 4-1? That would make 50 dead, not the 16 (?) of right now. Or there is something else going on.
You just delay announcing casualties. It's not rocket science.
So far, the longest delay seems to be a week or so. Unless there are casualties from the first days that have not been announced.
