Brendan Carr, chairman of the FCC, has threatened to revoke broadcasters’ licenses over their coverage of the war, accusing several media outlets of “running hoaxes and news distortions.”
They really are not hiding it any more.
Here's the problem, you giant un-American idiot, the FCC can't decide what is and isn't in the public interest. Only the public can do that. The FCC cannot threaten this, cannot act on this, cannot unilaterally make decisions about anything. It can't even initiate a fucking court case against a broadcaster over standards.
High school brain in action. How do media lies "undermine" the war? If I lie about planes here in the US a soldier dies in Iran? Explain your apparent stupidity to us.
After Epstein. This is your line? You bought off son of a bitch.
ad hominem
This has nothing to do with the original article. the actions would not be based on "public interest", they would be based on libel. whether or not the publications are knowingly promoting a hoax, not whether what they're reporting is in the public interest. The fcc had a whole section on hoaxes specifically when related to a crime or catastrophy (such as a foreign attack on our base): https://www.fcc.gov/reports-research/guides/hoaxes
I agree, the position is dodgy at best. Take it up with Trump, he's the one making the argument. all I'm doing is pointing out that his position on this issue has nothing to do with anti-semitism contrary to what the op claims. the article he cites about the destroyed planes doesn't even mention Israel, jews, or semites.
the FCC has the power to issue fines, and in so-called "extreme cases", the FCC has the power to revoke licenses.
I believe this is true, however.
ad hominem and whataboutism.
