If they include the non-binary bullshit probably. Because it's trendy. Especially online. But in actual reality no it's not true.
The whole thing from top to bottom is a social contagion. That has been apparent since at least the mid 2010s when people started becoming aware of the cesspool that is Tumblr.
Sure was funny how tumblr was mocked to hell and back for years and then suddenly that madness was pushed into the mainstream and mockery wasn't allowed anymore. Very organic.
That, and for the less honest it's an easy, unfalsifiable way to boost the chances of getting hired or promoted.
