Yeah obviously importing Iranian refugees would admit defeat in the Iran regime change mission, so it would be weird for Trump to promote that at this juncture. Then I watch the video and find out that, sure enough, he's not promoting it.
All the (justified) anger at the war is lowering people's judgment and degrading the quality threshold here. It's been going on since the most damaging Epstein file releases in January.
If the war itself were of value to us, it may not be irrational to take in a small number - maybe a couple hundred - of Iranians who provided legitimate work and service to the United States military. We wouldn't have to worry about the cultural dilution of 200 people compared to the tens of millions that flow in.
However, since the war itself is not really in our interests and just another drain on our money, it just feels like more America last policy to be letting these people in. The Iranian regime is not great, but is a diplomat who works for and then betrays that government in an attempt to install a controlled western + Israeli puppet government in place actually a good person who we want here?
As you said, the twitter post is misleading and what Trump said isn't that bad, but it does feel like a continual slap in the face that we continue to bend and prioritize America last policy.
This is why twit posts should be banned.

Why, because they say exactly what the title says and it hurts your feelings?
