if you didn't know Metro 2033 basically is based upon that, that the "great war" was sparked by a middle eastern country (iran) nuking a middle eastern country (Israel) causing the US to nuke all of the middle east and Russia

makes sense since the author of the metro 2033 book was a Russian-israeli jew so obviously he has inside knowledge on what is likely to come
looking at twitter you can see they're hellbent on attacking Iran, even if Iran is directly threatening to bomb tel-aviv if the amerimutt allies attack them.

but apperantly they get some snow in the Golan region and Jerusalem in the winter since they're mountainous regions
if you mean "is it possible to nuke them into an artificial nuclear winter" i'd say the chance is unlikely but not impossible
like scientificially it is possible, but will it happen IRL? doubtfully.
