Him being the step dad seals it for me. I don't think he's reaching at all. There's nothing women hate more on a visceral level than a beta male and the dude was worth more to her dead than alive. Why take the lion's share of the assets in a divorce rape when she can have it all? Framing the son is next level sociopath shit but this is a woman we're talking about.
