Who's being disingenuous? I quoted exactly what you said in direct response to those exact words. I didn't want to do the whole thing because it was clunky, but I will quote the full context below because you are falsely accusing me of being a liar:

You literally added words in brackets into the quote. You quite literally put words in my mouth. Everyone on this board can see it. Trying to play semantics doesn't work here.

I will refer you to my previous post and please read it more thoroughly.

that is unless you have no idea how square brackets are used in quotes. square brackets indicate that the text inside are not part of the original quote, and instead contain context surrounding the quote. it's very standard to use them in both journalism and in academic papers.
