It's not worse than I think, or anyone else paying attention.
I don't trust anyone who's part of any kind of "professional association" to properly do their job anymore.
I recently got my face cut open bad enough to "need" stiches; I just taped it shut and kept working. The only reason I'd every talk to a doctor is accessing meds I can't get on my own.
What's crazy is that of all the people who're most likely to take meds responsibly, it's Westerners, yet in many shithole countries anyone can get access to any meds they want without a prescription. It's in these areas where we would want access to medication restricted and in the areas where it matters less, we do have restrictions. It's all totally backwards.

There's no law against letting your injury kill you, but a million laws against treating it yourself.
