It's been a long time, but I seem to remember George Banks being a sympathetic character and the suffragette wife being depicted as a ditzy idiot, not 'quirky and admirable'. This guy is conflating George with the bank too much, yet they end up at odds.

I mean maybe it would appear subversive on rewatch, but I watched it a lot as a kid and I liked George Banks, I liked his songs, and I thought the wife was lame.
