I miss the days where you could buy a game at Gamestop, come home, pop it in a PS2, and just play the entire game. So many good memories from the sound of the disc spinning up at friends' houses. Millennials are one of the luckiest generations in the world in that respect.

And if you wanted to take a swim Inception style you had Monster Rancher which would spawn monsters for you to train based off random CDs you scanned. GameFAQs type websites would have literally thousands of CDs listed telling players what monsters a CD would give.
They're making a console still? I thought that Xbox were planning to go mostly storefront themselves nowadays which makes sense given their recent exclusive offerings have been lackluster and they make more money selling legacy franchise games to PlayStation users.
I really have no clue what Microsoft is doing anymore let alone in gaming. Windows 11 is quite the failure, Xbox game pass went from highly regarded to pissing everyone off, they bought Bethesda and Activision and...well they're not a return on investment yet and now they want to continue making a console with the great Ram shortage...
Steam wins by doing essentially nothing. There’s no way Xbox is going to have a new console out in the next year and the steam box is expected this year. PlayStation is going to sit on the 5 and 5 pro for at least another 5 years in all reality. Microsoft is experiencing the “oh fuck” reality of massive expansion with zero even 5 year planning let alone 10…
