I don't think people realize how business-like some women are about relationships and how little men value women's characteristics outside of their beauty and the comfort they provide.
Once a man has money and power, he demands a beautiful woman who can provide comfort for him. There are tons of women who'll slide into this role for the right man in a heartbeat. "Love" be damned. I have experienced this first-hand myself on a lower scale and I've encountered many of these women, seeing them in-action many times.
We used to just call them gold-diggers but they're actually so prevalent and so many women are like this deep-down that I think people have really stopped being so disparaging in remarking about "gold-diggers", especially since lots of men love gold-diggers and have no problems with them. Often times, the attacks on gold-diggers seems to be a result of jealousy. While this sort of relationship works for some, you just can't expect the same level of loyalty and love that peasant relationships among two people with little resources may have for one another. That's perfectly fine though and may have worked for Charlie and Erika, while he was alive and now she's immediately back into gold-digging sales mode to find a new chap. It's fine. It's her nature.

It never works for anyone. There is no successful ever after with whores. Charlie and Erika worked because they were only married 4 years, they would not have lasted 10. The relationships that last started before the money, the “power couples” fall apart because that’s not a real relationship, the “gold diggers” fall apart because that’s not a real relationship. Your best chance to find a relationship if you’re rich is to not go for the ones looking for you.

The unfortunate part is that I doubt Charlie understood the kind of woman he was dealing with. A lot of men are naive to the nature of women, especially the Trad Guys I've noticed. You'll see pastors marrying ex pornstars thinking she repented... Brah, you're playing with fire. Didn't that one actor guy who stared in the Jesus film marry a literal whore then tried to turn her into a housewife... Classic trope that ended in complete failure. Dude, what were you thinking? Too many men try to make their woman into something she's not. If she's a whore then enjoy her, like you say and know what you're dealing with.
To your other point, most relationships fail. 40% of marriages fail and if you include Long-Term-Relationships since hardly anyone marries anymore, the stats are probably closer to 90% of them fail. It's not really limited to a whore problem unless you think most women are whores. It's simply that most relationships between men and women fail.
They push those dumb numbers but most people don’t realize they count all divorces and most people who get divorced do it multiple times. You also have to control for race. White marriages have a median of 22 years, higher than any other race or ethnicity in the US. On the latter point the majority of women are most definitely whores. There’s a massive correlation between women who have had 3 or less sexual partners and successful long term marriages. The average woman self reports between 4-8 sexual partners so it’s easily twice that if not far far worse.
Once a woman has had 6+ sexual partners, she has an 80% chance of divorcing the next person she marries. That means for most men past their university years, you've gotta plan for the relationship ending because you probably aren't finding a woman with 0-2 sexual partners anymore. That means for a lotta men, they're going to be navigating whores which is fine if the men understand this. I've had very successful relationships with whores before. The last girl I dated for about a year was a whore, like literally (she'd fuck guys for money) and it was actually one of the better relationships I've been in because it was transparent and there was no deception. She was ultimately as loyal, cold and caring as Erika because they all are but she served her purpose and did a good job in her role when we spent time together. It's only a problem when people expect whores to be more than whores. People seem to think Erika is something more than she is but she isn't. She's a whore and that's fine. As you say, most women are whores and especially the good looking ones. The ugly ones would be but can't because they're ugly.
You’re still deceiving yourself with that word relationship. You had a transactional partnership. I ran through over 100 girls before settling down with a someone with only 1 previous relationship. I never deceived myself into believing they were relationships, it never evolved, it was simply me being bored and making do with what was available. The problem is when you let yourself believe that is all that’s available you reframe your brain into accepting or even preferring whores because they’re cheap (initially) and easy to find. That’s not a partnership though, it’s sex with the facade of being more.
When I was married and in a "true" relationship, I didn't find it to be better. I enjoyed the transactional partnershio more. It might be hard for you to believe but I truly like whores more than non-whores because whores are better at providing what I want than non-whores. A "real" relationship as most people engage in it doesn't interest me. I enjoy my women for sex, relaxation and some arm candy for events. I don't enjoy them for anything more than that and women who aren't whores demand I value them for more than those things which I won't ever do so "normal" relationships don't work for me. I know, I've tried them and was even married. My mistake early in life was trying to do the "real" relationship thing, instead of just amassing resources and focusing on acquiring a whore.
That’s until you get hit by something you can’t change. You can’t pay for someone to care about you when cancer ravages or disease comes.
