The idea is that Jesus can & will forgive them if they convert. However? He is a "special case" and we're supposed to be "like Him" but are not required to BE Him. ie: no miracles needed to be a Christian, eh? That would seriously cut down the congregation size... 😄
You can "forgive him" while you throw the switch on "old sparky" to send him to the afterlife. In an ideal world.
Oh I agree, it "bugs me" when people "forgive" the wrongdoer who most urgently does NOT deserve anything remotely like mercy "/ It's just a branch of Christian philosophy. "Your mileage may vary" eh?

How about this: Do not forgive rapists and terrible pieces of shit. Even if they convert. Crazy idea, I know.
