Truth: Lowest numbers since 2019, NOT 1900. The study shows no raw data and only percentage changes from 2018-2025. Other studies show the homicide rate increased in 2025 from 2024 and in 2024 from 2023. The rates at this scale do not say much compared to rates in cities and towns. Urban homicide increased and population decreased. Rural population increased.
I did find the concept of all these statistics being around in 1900 quite bizarre. I'm sure there are figures and that they can be compared to some degree but the level of detail for comparison would be vastly different from what we use today.
The FBI only started in 1908 and didn't really get itself together until the mid-1930s. Post World War 2 would be when the data starts being represented properly (Or closer to properly).
Thanks for the link, 2025 is 25% down when compared with 2019 with homicides. Burglaries are down 45%. Those are good numbers.
The article just shows a bunch of tweets saying the same thing. Tweets and fake news journalists love to lie, so let's find the truth.
Here is the single study they are all referencing: https://counciloncj.org/crime-trends-in-u-s-cities-year-end-2025-update/
