When conservatives are in power, libertarians oppose the government and succeed.

I mean, I think that illustrates the problem with so called conservatives, not the libertarians.
The Republicans don't want to win.
The point is that libertarians can reliably sabotage a thin conservative majority but are powerless to stop a thin leftist majority.
