Both Jew and Muslim bibles require you to rip open the throat of the animal with a sharp rock (they've revised it to say that iron and steel are rock-like enough, at least, so a knife is allowed), only one slice is allowed to be made, and then pray to their respective gods as the animal chokes to death on its own blood in panic, pain, and fear.

If the slice is too shallow to kill it quickly, you still gotta let it suffer to death, you can't finish the cut.

And of course, any sort of pain-mitigating or panic-mitigating measures are forbidden.
