She has lived in Canada her whole life and is White. She asked me if it were possible to own a building without owning the land that the building was on and I explained how it is and that's how many properties on Indian land are setup. I then went in to say, it's not that common of a setup outside of Indian land as far as I know but apparently, it's fairly common in NYC according to Trump's book. She scowled almost immediately. "You read Trump's books?" I told her I did because I like to stay informed about things and it was actually a pretty good book that was written well before his political days that mostly focused on the real estate side. I told her I read Mark Carney's book also. "Who's that?" She replied. "You don't know who the Prime Minister of Canada is?" "I guess not because I don't know who that is" she replied.
And Canadians like to pretend they're more informed than Americans.
They fought for the interests of the tyrants not their own interests. That's the embarassing part. And if their interests align with the tyrants then these Canadians are worthless people.
Being a territory means you have no political representation which means no one is catering to your state's needs to gain political power. While the advantage of less taxes seems good, I doubt it's overall beneficial.
Territories also don't get the same trade deals nor.federal funding for anything etc... one of the greatest advantages of becoming a state is getting immediate access to all of America's trade deals.
Territories also don't get all the same rights as states as it applies in the constitution. One of the benefits of becoming a state is that Canada would become a more free area but if "Canadian traditions" of oppression are allowed to continue because Canada is a territory instead of a state that defeats some of the advantages for me.
Imagine thinking that people who don't want to be conquered and annexed by a belligerent foreign power are 'worthless people'.
You keep phrasing this but it's not true.
"Imagine thinking that people who don't want to improve their lives are worthless people."
That's the correct framing.
Now imagine wanting to fight to keep your life worse. That's embarrassing.
We're literally living in a country with no laws.
Our federal gvoernment just lost it's (first) appeal of the ruling stating that they illegally suspended our Charter of Rights during the Freedom Convoy. Consequences? Zero.
The US is getting police knocking on doors regarding jew posting; we've had arrests.
This government is not my government any more than an American occupying for would be. Carney isn't even Canadian and he's looting our economy. Why not have America occupation, at this point?
Because there's nothing to fight for, other than what I can protect with my own hands. We've never been a real country, we're a British resource colony made up of vastly different people who are only here to make money by digging up the land. We never fought for our independence like the Americans and so we remain what our oligarchs in Ottawa tell us to be.
Why would I risk my life, and the life of my children, for people who were demanding I be the subject of medical experiments? Or who think we should give up everything we've built in this frozen hellscape to the vicious savages we had to fight for it?
Canada is fucked. I'm not asking for an American invasion, but I can't say for sure that I'd fight them.
That's just it. Anyone opposed to American annexation cannot come up with any argument as to why except "feefees". Omg Trump bad we must sacrifice ourselves for Carneybro! It's an absolute joke.
