They're trying to force a culture change, and the people and producers who forced those rules on oscarbait movies have every reason to force those same rules on gore-slop movies that want to get greenlit too.
No no, that's what I'm saying, if they're dictating those rules to the Oscars, they're also dictating those rules to all their production companies too, they just don't publicly post their in-house guidelines like the Oscars do.
If they're willing to compromise a prestige property like the Oscars to push this agenda, they're absolutely going to be willing to compromise lowest-common-denominator slop just as much, if not more.
