Nope. They're a mess, it was terrible for its people, but it was not globalist. It was more protectionist, and the main point of the opposition is "opening up" oil and other things to "international trade."
Venezuela will be much more globohomo now, then it was under communism/socialism. Which isn't saying the latter is good, of course.
Communism is inherently globohomo
It's really not. There are versions that are international communism ("workers of the world," and all that gay stuff), but there is also protectionist/national communism, and that's what Venezuela was. Venezuela seized international companies, nationalized things and, in theory kept Venezuelan resources in the country for the people.
Again, don't want to be misunderstood, not defending it. It was communism, and it was Hell for Venezuelans...but it wasn't globohomo, is my point.
