I don't believe for a second they cannot tell a person's skin colour from their DNA.
Like the "professor" who claimed a male & female's skeletons are identical... an anthropologist no less!
It might not be actual skin colour worked out but there are certain genetic features known to particular ethnicities which can be spotted that is more or less analogous to that sort of test. Chinese and Japanese eyelids for example.
Yeah, that's basic training for anthropology. I've embarrassed friends who posed with skeletons saying to was a new boyfriend or something.
