It's basically a universal belief among the modern woman and it's even creeped into men. No one owes a handicap to someone attacking them

People will also openly resent people for being better than them now. Envy has become a virtue to many. If I see someone doing better than me then I try to figure out how to catch up if I can. Alot of people now would just rather tear that person down to their level.
