I was talking to a friend that was laid off recently and it's turned into the same as me, you should call this person who will talk to that person, word gets around and you have a dozen opportunities. That all avoids HR screening basically and is small business heavy. It's really the only way.
The young ones with nothing to start with like I was years ago, the HR person is screening for blacks and pussies and whatever they can't fill gets filled with H1Bs.
