That was my experience. Women in general had precedence in hiring to the point where my manager was told that any woman that applies needs to be made an offer.
Also every time there were layoffs it was always white males, we had black people with horrible metrics, did less in a month that other per week and still the white males would get fired.
And if a team was not diverse they would bring foreigners if need be to the point we got a muslim that was on the terrorist watch list because we didn't have enough muslims. Also a "refugee" from Egypt that was frequently vacationing back in Egypt.
edit: in the end it does not matter since Indians are now taking over and they have no morals about hiring outside their group
I saw a lot of PhDs I applied for go to women and when keeping track of how things were going with a lot of them they never even finished it, instead quitting and going doing something else instead. Countless money and time, of multiple people including the men who would have actually stuck things out and finished, all for the sake of virtue signalling to people that don't actually give a shit about science or know much beyond IFLS Tiktoks.
