I was talking to my mom about this. She had a stroke a few years ago and has aphasia and some other cognitive issues. She was asking me about an article with James Woods disavowing negative responses about Reiner and his wife's murder.
I told her if you want to hold the position it's wrong to dance on someone's grave that's a good and principled position. But if you just don't want it done to people you like, and you are doing a jig on the graves of people you dislike it's not the principle you are defending.
Clearly Reiner didn't hold a principle of respecting the dead, so giving it to him shouldn't be expected.
