This is kind of the thing everyone has forgotten with capeshit. The only genuinely serious superhero movies that have ever come out is stuff most normies have never heard of like The Rocketeer, or Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Everything else is campy to an extent, even Burton's films.
This is why Scorsese's take towards MCU movies should not have been anywhere near as controversial as it ended up being to a generation of brain-numbed zoomers who grew up on it. There's a distinct level of sophistication between an average Scorsese picture and something like Black Panther, which should never have been in contention for Oscars, let alone any pity prizes.
