I don’t like Tom King but I got the comic/graphic novel he wrote that this movie is based on. Also the director is annoying for saying she is going to change the character but like you said it could be interesting. Don’t like that Krypto isn’t Superman’s dog but that is a small nitpick. Could be good
This is kind of the thing everyone has forgotten with capeshit. The only genuinely serious superhero movies that have ever come out is stuff most normies have never heard of like The Rocketeer, or Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Everything else is campy to an extent, even Burton's films.
This is why Scorsese's take towards MCU movies should not have been anywhere near as controversial as it ended up being to a generation of brain-numbed zoomers who grew up on it. There's a distinct level of sophistication between an average Scorsese picture and something like Black Panther, which should never have been in contention for Oscars, let alone any pity prizes.
"Indie" content. Which shouldn't not be confused with indie content, the scarequotes are necessary.
Amazon has Hazbin Hotel, Netflix has The Amazing Digital Circus, they're "indie", totally... Except they're backed by multi-billion-dollar multinational corporations.

I think he has his charm. In the old comics for sure
It looks bloody horrible and utterly generic.
