But after seeing so much I can get why assumptions are made. Like I rarely watch stuff made after 2014 but there is good stuff out there being made. So I can’t write everything off

I can't.

One title is one title. If a shitty movie comes out, I don't just immediately assume the next ten movies I see will be shitty. If I play a shitty game, I don't just immediately assume the next ten games I play will be shitty. That'd be retarded to think.

There's so much good shit made after 2014. If you want to avoid it because you're worried it might be bad, have at it. I don't let such an inconsequential fear run my life.

Just as with this I'll notice and get around to it eventually. It will still be there in five years. I have no need to feel like I'm playing what just came out.

Just out of curiosity, do you ever have to move out of the way of boats when you are out walking on water? You just come off as a pretentious jerk. Maybe you aren’t but I hope you don’t have a holier than thou attitude with people in your life. You seem to live to wag your finger at everyone. If I don’t like something it’s because of fear and not because I don’t like it. Well whatever floats your boat. I know you said you like “podunk” groups like this but that kinda speaks to the kind of person you are. Please read a book about humility.

I don't, no. Because people in my life aren't making a stink about this sort of thing. We just talk about games that we have had fun playing. Life's too short to go on a tirade about how much we don't like a game when there are plenty more things to talk about about things that are fun and enjoyable to us.

I was taught humility at a very young age. My high school actually had great programs and classes that revolved around being men (I went to an all boys school) who would help others. In this, we learned how meaningless it was to get upset at things we didn't have control over, such as someone else's art. Why bother? So someone made something that we don't like, is that really worth it? Are we so self-centered that all art must cater to our tastes? Of course not, that'd be ridiculous.

There's a great book I've read, in part about humility, called "the courage to be disliked." In it, it talks about another aspect of humility, where people get all these sorts of insecurities thinking that everyone is so concerned with how they act, how the look, how they talk, how they dress, that they spend all their time trying to cater to the masses instead of being what they truly are, and speaking their mind.

It helped me greatly in not being so wrapped up in thinking that everyone has these high expectations of me, and embrace instead that I can live my life comfortably, embracing and understanding flaws within myself and within others. It offers a great perspective on forgiving yourself and recognizing the bigger picture of what's important.

Ok but you sometimes do come across as a Red Sox fan going into a Yankees fan group for the sole purpose of bugging Yankees fans. I do try ti make more fun nerdy posts. I get that not everything will cater to you and as I told you I’m retro so I could be happy with stuff from past decades. I did scratch my head and wonder why IPs started to attack their core audience, granted I could just ignore it and focus on what I do like. With Star Wars for instance I realized I didn’t care for their brand of Star Wars so I cancelled d plus and just consume Star Wars movies and books from before the sale. Found some EU book clubs and it’s fun. I honestly came to that conclusion with various things and decided to enjoy what I like even if that makes me more retro.

I’m not the best Christian but I try despite my stumbling. I’m well aware of the humility lessons. I’m currently reading The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry which is about slowing down and taking time to pray or meditate and not worrying about things that don’t matter.

Liking retro makes plenty of sense. Avoiding modern because you assume content doesn't.

Endless diversity talk happens primarily on these sorts of forums where everyone gets in a tizzy whenever a character is nonwhite. Even on this thread, you scroll down and someone is showing deep concern about the size of Lara's forehead. It's wild to me how much people care about something so dumb. I'm also on reddit gaming forums and I rarely see talk about diversity.

To me, that aspect is way far down on the list of things that make a game enjoyable. I don't care if the main character is white, asian, woman, man, crosseyed, or with two peg legs. If the gameplay is good, that's all that matters.

I never cared either but I did notice when gaming magazines or comic industry constantly talked about diversity. I’m black and never cared about skin color or female characters in games/books/movies. I did find it annoying to be told I need to see myself in everything. I can see myself in plenty of things. Always connected with Superman and Spider-Man for one thing. Like that stupid actress for that Star Wars show saying she was making a safe place for black nerds. I was like I’m twice your age and never needed a safe space. What I see on here is understandable pushback in a lot of cases. As a book reader some of my favorite authors are women. I’ve done some writing. If I ever make it big I want to be known as a good writer
