Wind and Solar can NEVER meet peak demands. Solar peaks at certain hours far outside of peak market demand. Maybe wind can once in a while? But don't count on it, winds tend to be calmer in the morning and near sunset, which is most often when peak demand is. Every kWh of W&S requires 100% backup or the entire grid could fail. The only possible backup today is Gas and Coal. The battery tech does not exist to back-up a 100% W&S grid and existing tech costs 4X more than the expensive W&S itself.
Furthermore: making huge 'battery farms' has negative scale of economy. That means the more you build? The more each unit will cost! As they compete directly with many other products (like... EVs!) for scarce & expensive resources.
