The only positive I could think of was that he deregulated some industries and fought against public unions. Boomer cons lauded him as a saint because he made core assets cheap, lowered mortgage rates, and tampered inflation.
Don't forget he was possibly a literal traitor for working with a foreign enemy to keep American hostages in enemy hands longer, to deny the release to his political opponent.
It does seem like, at the very least, his backers were fucking around by spreading rumors and trying to disrupt negotiations with Iran.

My point isn't that he didn't immediately free the hostages when het got in power, my point is there are serious allegations that he and his backers did backroom stuff to delay the release, so as to deny Carter a political win while the election was ongoing.
